Kalonji

Identifying with the buttercup family, kalonji is also referred to as black cumin, fennel flower, nutmeg flower or nigella sativa. It is used commonly as a spice and also as an essential ingredient in ayurvedic and traditional healing techniques. Its lovely aroma comprises but one of its amazing qualities which include, protecting the liver, lowering blood sugar and alleviating inflammation. Sourced from Jhalawar in Rajasthan, kalonji is known to have a slightly bitter taste and is commonly used in Middle Eastern and South Asian cuisines.
